OUR HERITAGE

Founded by mother-daughter duo Anne-Marie Holdsworth and Jessica Talpade, Brodie is a family-owned boundary-pushing luxury clothing brand.

1950s

In 1954 Donald
Holdsworth left school at 16 and became a sample room boy at a wool merchant.

1960s

Donald, now working for Hart wools, was a leading trader in the Yorkshire Woollen industry and an expert who had established an understanding of fibre quality and what leading manufactures demand. He established his own business trading in the finest wools.

1980's

Donald’s son, Bill, began working
in the family business, learning about micron, fibre length, hair count and trading natural fibre.

2000's

William’s Wife and children begin working in the family business and travelling to Mongolia to meet the herders and mills.

2020's

Brodie supplies over 1,200 stores globally. It has recently been a finalist in the Drapers Sustainable brand of the year (UK) and been awarded the Queens award for International Trade in 2022.

1970's

Donald and his team embark
on a mission to Mongolia to source the purest cashmere and to forge relationships directly with goat herders. The demand for the finest cashmere from European manufacturers was growing.

1990's

Bill visits Mongolia and forges a partnership with a newly established vertical cashmere factory. That relationship continues today and the factory has become the leading exporter of cashmere knitwear from Mongolia.

2010's

Anne Marie and Jessica launch Brodie with their family and friends. It was an overnight success.

Originating from Yorkshire, from a long family lineage steeped in textile fibre trading and cashmere manufacturing, the pair are determined to bring their bold vision and innovative designs to its community of women through a responsible supply chain.


With over a 1000 speciality stores globally, Brodie brings together women who support, share and advocate stories of empowerment in order to inspire the next generation of change makers.
