City Guide: Copenhagen

Explore Copenhagen's hidden gems with our Wholesale Marketing Manager Emilia , as she shares where to stay, what to see, and what to eat around the City.

Where to stay:

Grand Joanne.

"Located next to the Central Station Grande Joanne is a boutique hotel in Copenhagen's vibrant Vesterbro district, steps away from top attractions, local dining, and buzzing nightlife.

Bringing together the charm of Copenhagen with Scandinavian modern comfort, Grand Joanne is the depiction of Hygge style. There are also Pilates classes in the most aesthetically pleasing gym I have even seen and a rooftop bar with DJs on certain nights. Make sure you fit in with the locals by renting one of their iconic pink bicycles."

Where to eat:

Paté Paté.

"Just 6 minutes from the hotel Paté Paté is one of the oldest restaurants in the Meatpacking District and an institution in delicious food and wine. It's all about casual dining here and feeling the iconic Meatpacking District atmosphere on many levels.

The food comes from the Southern French kitchen, inspired by Spain with a twist of North African spices and local ingredients. It's comfort food that can easily be shared with the whole party."

The Union Kitchen.

"Just off the main road from the beautiful coloured houses of Nyhavn you'll find The Union Kitchen where it's all about good food, good company, and the moments in between.

During the day you'll find delicious brunch options and in the evenings it's small plates designed for sharing, bringing people together in a relaxed yet lively atmosphere — whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite or enjoying a longer dinner with friends."

Where to visit:

The Design Museum.

"If you love the simplicity of Danish design then you will definitely want to visit the Design Museum. A favourite of mine was the Danish Modern Exhibition showing the story of Danish design from the 1920s until the year 2000, focusing on the creation of some of the most iconic Danish design objects."

Bredgade 68, 1260 Copenhagen K

The National Museum.

"Go time travelling at Denmark’s key history museum. The National Museum showcases everything from Viking treasure and the Egtved girl’s grave to Egyptian mummies, Renaissance art and the present day.

The museum is also home to the wonderful Restaurant SMÖR where you'll find Danish classics like smørrebrød (open-faced sandwiches) with a new twist."

Tivoli Gardens at night.

"Magical Tivoli Gardens is one of the oldest theme parks in the world and really comes alive at night with thousands of coloured lights creating a fairytale atmosphere that is completely unique.

It has quirks and charm, and details for you to discover- you might catch a glimpse of the guinea fowls or peacocks running freely through the gardens.

There is also live music in Tivoli every single day and music events on throughout the year."

What to do:

Rent a GoBoat.

"GoBoat is the perfect way to experience Copenhagen from the water - slow, relaxed and with a great atmosphere. You are your own captain and the boat is quiet enough to really enjoy the city from a new angle: under the bridges, past houseboats and with views of both old warehouses and modern architecture.

It's perfect for a picnic which can be picked up from Andersen Bakery a 5 minute walk from where you rent your GoBoat. You'll find freshly baked bread and pastries every day of the week."

Islands Brygge 10, 2300 Copenhagen S

Where to get Danish Pastries:

Andersen Bakery.

"As mentioned above award- winning Andersen Bakery is the place to get your picnic before hoping on your GoBoat. Whether the bakery is working with sourdough bread, Danish pastries or cakes, organic produce and quality are prioritized."

Thorshavnsgade 26, 2300 Copenhagen s

Hart Bakery.

"With 10 Hart Bakeries now in Copenhagen you are sure to see one on your travels. Hart has pushed the boundaries of what Danish pastries look like and has gained iconic status. In a city that loves baked goods as much as Copenhagen, Hart still stands out from the crown with its sky-high level of quality."
